Video of Maya
from Nov. 10, 2001, at 18 months old. -
Note:  The video is in MPEG format, which can be played with your windows media player (comes with windows).  It will take a few minutes to download though, so please be patient.  Below are a few captured pictures from the video if you can't see it.  Maya is QUITE the mover!

Video #2 of Maya - This one is really short, but she's moving so nice in it that I wanted to include it.   If you you don't want to wait for the first one, this one might be better for you.

Video #3 of Maya - This one is in a bigger format.  Will take longer to Download, but it's a nice clip too.  The quality isn't as good, since it's a bigger format, but you can still see movement well.

Below photos of Maya at 13 months

The Story of Maya and her Internet friends

May 14th, 2000 was Mother's day here in the U.S., as most of you know.  The day was pretty much business as usual here at the farm, people coming to look at horses, chores, chores and more chores.  After the day was done, and we finally got to the business of taking mom out for Mother's Day.  We needed to do this of course, but we knew that Legri was imminent in her foaling.  It was getting late, about 8 pm,  but we didn't have anyone to stay at the farm to keep an eye on her.  We popped online, and saw an online friend or two on our 'buddylist'.  Knowing that we would only be gone about an hour, we decided to have a couple people look in on the web cam while they were online, and gave them our number to call if they saw anything.

Just after dinner was served, at about 9:15 the first call came in from Tory MacDonald in Connecticut.  Legri is down, and seems to be straining.  Boxes for dinner, the check, and whoosh, we were out the door.  Our waitress' head is still spinning I am sure :>)  As we were breaking light-speed all the way home (about a 15 minute trip) we received regular calls from Tory, updating on her progress, as well as calls from Margie Dickson in Kansas, and Donna in Florida.  We knew every step of her labor and delivery, and when we pulled up to the barn, Maya was mostly out with her hind legs still to be delivered.  Legri was kind enough to lay with a perfect angle to the camera, so the whole world got to enjoy!  Thank you so much to all of our internet friends that were there to help, we couldn't have done it without you!  Sorry about the mom's day dinner mom, leftovers are much better after a day or two, right?  (Picture when Maya was about 3 hours old)

Did you miss the birth, live on the internet?  Click on the picture for the photopoint record of the birth, snapped by Tory MacDonald, a Draft Horse friend from Connecticut!  Tory was on "foal watch" from 2000 miles away that night.  She did her job perfectly!  Thanks a bunch Tory!
