Burnham Green Alfie -
Now Standing in the USA!

Black
Forest Shires & Gypsy Horses is proud to announce the acquisition and
import of another English National Shire Show-winning stallion, "Burnham
Green Alfie" (SHS # 46926, ASHA # pending).
This awesome 19 hand (on the stick, July, 2006) black stallion
came off of the farm for his FIRST show ever at the National Shire Show
in Peterborough (England) in 2003. Alfie managed to take the
award for Grand Champion stallion (over about 50 other colts and
stallions, including previous champions) before the day was done! *
That was Alfie's first and only show, and he's been a breeding stallion
since that time. Alfie is obviously of the thought that "if you
are going to do it once, you should do it right"! We have been
trying to buy Alfie since that day, and finally succeeded in late, 2005.
A few of Alfie's wonderful features include his size and his awesome
legs; you will not find better, cleaner legs on a stallion of his age.
His strong knees are as flat as you can ever hope for, and his hocks are
cleaner than most 3 year olds. He has the proper bone and joints
to accompany his massive size. He has the best topline of any
shire stallion we have ever seen, and a truly awesome neck and head.
Alfie also has foot, foot, foot, this stallion has nearly TWICE the
depth of heel on him than most shire stallions in the USA today, a trait
seemingly lost on many people new to draft horses. His feet have
never ceased to amaze every knowledgeable person in the draft horse world that has
laid eyes on this horse. They are just awesome, you can't get
better. Another "bonus feature" of Alfie is that he carries the
right color that most shire people want, and he throws it in his foals!
Alfie has dozens of foals overseas who are just starting their show
career. Most all have the perfect shire markings, size, and the
awesome build of their sire. To top it all off, Alfie has a
wonderful disposition, he's a sweet, giant, gentle boy who truly loves
people and attention.
Alfie will be standing at stud at BFSGH (in Colorado) for 2007.
Alfie's stud fee for 2007 will be $1000, which includes the $300 booking fee. Alfie is offering shipped chilled semen or on farm AI. In 2006,
Alfie's shipped semen and on-farm breeding conception rate was 100%,
even with two difficult-breeder mares in the mix! He even produced two
conceptions doing embryo transfers with shipped semen on the same cycle in
one of our mares! In fact, this ONE collection with Alfie resulted in 4
confirmed pregnancies in 3 mares (the embryo transfer mare conceived 2
at once, and both were transferred to recipient mares)! We have
never collected or bred Alfie without a confirmed pregnancy resulting,
this boy ships with the best of them!

*Note
- Alfie's Grand Champion Stallion title was later disallowed due to a
technicality, but the fact remains that he appeared for the first time
in the show ring and managed to BEAT all of the other English Champion
stallions and colts!

This is Alfie (actually he's the
BIG one in the back, furthest right). This is him standing at the
front of the line winning his class (later to take grand champ) at the
2003 SHS National Show. You can see, Alfie is a BIG, BIG boy!
He towers over the other stallions, even though he's furthest from the
camera!

Here is the same lineup leaving the
class. Alfie up front in FIRST, Walt Bedford in 2nd with Jacobies
Nero,
and Paul Bedford 3rd with Isles Field Danny Boy. **Remember, in
England, the red ribbon is first, the blue is second!

Here's Alfie's "official" show
picture, with all of his grand champion stallion ribbons.
