Hello!  We're Jeff and Christine Bartko of Black Forest Shires.  We are nestled in the Black Forest near Colorado Springs, Colorado, with a wonderful view of Pike's Peak and the Rocky Mountains.  We specialize in breeding only the finest quality shire horses available on the market today!  We are not a big farm, we stress quality and not quantity.        Since 1985, Christine and Jeff have worked with and trained draft horses.   Of all the draft breeds we had encountered, the English Shire Horse was the one we fell in love with and chose to breed.  In 1990 we began our herd of Shire Horses, and the rest, as they say, is history!      We are members of the American Shire Horse Association, and the Shire Horse Society (in England).  Photo at right:  Shire Horse Society Reception at St. James Palace in London, March 14, 2000.  From Left - HRH The Princess Royal GCVO (Princess Anne),  Jeff Bartko, and Christine Bartko.
